When winning sri lankans forget all the mistakes and faults. I cant understand why chamara silva is in the team if he has to be hidden when quick scoring needed. This is a shame. Worldcup is getting closer. We can say we are winning is ausie soil but we cant say we have a steady batting lineup. Still some of our batsman don’t know how to adjust to the situations. MCG miracle will not happen always. Common Aravinda make a steady batting lineup and teach them to adjest to the situation.
WE CAN WIN THE WORLD CUP…..
It is a great achievement that we won a series in Australia. It was totally due to our young players & ever reliable bowling attack. However a Batsmen of a great promise is sitting out while some ordinary batsmen who has no skills to play balls intentionally all along the ground and try to live with risky strokes, (whose consistency rates are very pathetic to describe) are given chances failure after failure. For unknown reasons the selectors of last 30 years have always selected very ordinary batsmen for National sides, when there were more than enough brilliant cricketers who have been showing consistency from their schooldays the likes of Khausal Silva, Tharanga Paranawithana, Lahiru Thirmanne, Dhimuth Karunarathna, Angelo Perera, Wimanga Perera, Umesh Karunarathna,Chathuranga Kumara,Bhanuka Rajapaksha, ,….and brilliant past schoolboy cricketers like Varuna Waragoda, Sagith Fernando, Lanka de Silva, Indika de Saram, Sanjeewa Warusamana, Jewantha Kulathunga, Janka Gunarathna, Duleepa Samaraweera… have never been selected for the country ( some have been given very limited chances only). These selectors have not been quite aware of having batsmen who can bat under difficult circumstances. The correct shot selection is more important than the hitting ability of a player whose consistency rate is 1 out of 3 or 4 at times per innings. The selectors are trying to be god fathers of ageing club cricketers & no concern what so ever of the future of Cricket in this Country. The good players should be provided opportunities to play when their enthusiasm , confidence are at its peak and their body movements are lightning quick, otherwise they would lose interest of the game as in the case of Ian Daniel, Sahan Wijeratna, Lahiru Peiris, Nilushan Nonis.., who have been outstanding batsmen in their school days.
I still think tharanga should be dropped from the team. tell me one shot that he middled? or timed? he was very lucky in the initial overs to survive. there were lot of play and misses. he could have easily gone at that time. but for some reason he was lucky enough to survive. and in the end he was the set batsman in the middle so it was his responsibility to score runs faster but he failed he only managed to score one four during that session. it was matthews who took over the responsibility. as it seems tharanga only plays 2 shots cut and drive that’s all. we have lot players in our team who have the ability to rotate the strike rather than going hard at bowlers and tharanga is a nother name that will add to that list. but we want a player who can score runs quickly to open the innings. guess what , tharanga had all power play overs to bat and his strike rate was around 72,totally unacceptable. amount of runs that a batsman scored dosen,t gurantee his quality if he scores them badly. now tharanga will not score runs for next ten matches and will still play for the world cup mainly due to this lucky inning. this is the trend of his batting. Chandimal ,you better find a new job before its too late (remember what happened to kulatunga ).
oh come on dude appreciate his hard work 86 not out,won the man of the match ..i dunno really what else u guys need from tharanga ??
but he should improve that’s true…!
and don’t forget chandiaml is our back up wicket keeper ..so he’s always in the track ..!
